grr… no pix to post b/c the bf busted the camera! i wanted to show you my progress with the first 2 of many dayflower lace scarves i’m doing up for xmas gifts. i think that for the gal pals out here i’ve decided to give them each one, and make one for myself — since we all have distinct fave colors. courtney’s pink one is under way in lamb’s pride victorian pink. i will have to give the blue mohair one to someone else since blue doesn’t match anyone here. julie will get a green one (as will my friend sue back home, unless i make a branching out for her), and dianne will get a tan/brown one.
i went to article pract in oakland to check out their yarn sale and didn’t find any sale yarn, but i got the lamb’s pride there. i am thinking of stopping by stash in berkeley to check out their end of season sale to see if i can pick up anything else… otherwise i will be ordering a bunch of andean silk from knitpicks to make these scarves when i get back from New York.

i am thinking of scrapping my bolero vest and redoing it… double stranding makes me feel like this vest will be way too chunky to wear. maybe i should stripe the two colors instead or just use a solid color. i dunno. this one is on hold until i go get more yarn anyhow.
i cast on the dayflower lace scarf using the light blue rowan kid that joy left here. i like this yarn better for this scarf (i originally intended it for branching out, but this lace pattern is chunkier so i feel like it goes better). so the xmas gifts are on their way slowly.
i ordered a whole lot of color cards from knitpicks and finally got em yesterday, woo hoo! and i got some yarn too — i cast on some self-striping 3×2 ribbed armwarmers using simple stripes in vineyard. fun stuff watching it self-stripe i tell ya.

i think my tivoli tee will be the last of the summer knits for now… i started the first of my fall knits today. my cropped bolero vest using wool ease in dark rose heather double-stranded with rose heather on size 13 needles. i estimate that it will only take 2 skeins of each color to finish — i’m up to the last front panel and have only used 1 skein each so far. project is on hiatus until i can go buy one more skein of each color. it’s a quick knit tho — i started it yesterday and it’s almost done!
on my list to do:
- i scrapped the idea for a wedding shawl for my cousin since there’s no point since she’ll never use it again.
- finish tivoli tee
- work on more mondrian blanket squares
- think about xmas gift knits. this is what i’m thinkin so far:
. dayflower lace scarf in some green yarn for sue & julie & a purple one for christine
. branching out in a white mohair yarn for liz & blue kid soft for dianne
. lacey lattice scarf in chunky pink yarn (maybe from knitpicks?) for courtney
. a scrap wrap/poncho for yvette since she wants a poncho
. open cable scarf in beige for tiff and maybe some matching armwarmers
. scarf to be determined later for my cousin (in fluffy purple yarn) and a matching doggie sweater for her chihuahua sugar (maybe i can combine some homespun & some of my pound of love yarn to make these…. hmmm… destashing)
. scarf for my auntie
. and if i get thru all those, maybe some beanies for charlie, daddy, d, bigger d, n the rest of the boys
i guess that means i should get started now huh? ok i’ll get started after i get back from ny… maybe i should head over to school products to buy some cones of yarn. or i can finally go on my knitpicks binge, woo hoo! am i too ambitious? lol.
